Lecturer Evaluation and Promotion
Lecturer Promotion and Review
Lecturers are a vital part of the UMSI teaching community; among other things, they provide expertise in different areas and insights into the professional communities in which our students find careers and employment upon graduation. We are committed to improving the instructional skills of lecturers and helping them become expert teachers.
All who teach in the School of Information are expected to maintain exemplary teaching. In accordance with the Lecturer’s Employee Union Agreement May 11, 2024—April 20, 2028 (hereafter LEO Agreement). Section XIX.A.3 of that agreement states that each unit will establish and promulgate policies and procedures for all types of reviews.
In addition, and as a condition of employment as a Lecturer, Lecturers are expected to complete a Faculty Annual Report (FAR) in each academic year in which they hold appointments, but not in years a lecturer is up for a major review.
