The 2024 survey of UMSI Staff Professional Development & Mentorship needs and interests found that many UMSI staff members are unaware of and/or are not utilizing professional development resources offered through University Human Resources and other offices on campus. The following list is not exhaustive but provides a number of resources you can start with to learn more about what is available - mostly for free - and consider what may be of interest to you.

A professional development planning and resource tool
An on-demand learning solution designed to help you gain new skills and advance your career. LinkedIn Learning is available at no cost to all active faculty, staff (including temporary employees) and students at the University of Michigan.
The University of Michigan’s web-based learning and information center offers a variety of learning activities to support operational users, compliance requirements, and professional development. The learning catalog includes training from ITS, Organizational Learning, Environment, Health and Safety (EHS), PEERRS, the Shared Services Center, Treasurer’s Office. Access My LINC through the Faculty & Staff tab on Wolverine Access.

Michigan Online provides free access to non-credit eligible courses from the University of Michigan to all staff (and faculty and students). Michigan+ offers Coursera for Campus, extending this free access to virtually the entire Coursera catalog (except for online degree programs and master track specializations which are not free).
Administered by University Human Resources, the Career Development Fund for Staff provides financial grants of up to $1,500 for individuals at every academic campus and Michigan Medicine to fund a wide range of learning opportunities. The goal is to help facilitate your learning, growth, and collaboration.
